Everest Base Camp Trek via Gokyo Lake and Cho La Pass is a wonderful trek that covers the beautiful lakes of Gokyo, adventures in moraines, boulders, and crevasses ascending and descending Gokyo Ri, Cho La Pass, and Kalapatthar. The trail follows through the deep forest of rhododendrons, juniper, fir, and pines, passes waterfalls, several villages of Sherpas, crossing several streams and rivers, and witnessing the views of Mt. Cho Oyu, Makalu, Lhotse, Nuptse, Pumori, Ama Dablam, and Everest. You shall get to visit Tengboche Monastery. Kalapatthar offers you the most breathtaking panoramic views of mountains and landscape from the top. Making to the top of Cho La Pass can really be challenging, and you might have to make through icy section depending upon the weather.

After spending an extra day in Kathmandu after your arrival here, you shall fly to Lukla, and begin trekking towards Phakding. From Phakding, you shall head off to Namche Bazar—the Gateway to Everest. After an additional day at Namche Bazar, you shall head off to Phortse Thanga. Via Macchermo, walking over the glacial moraines, you shall reach to Gokyo; the beautiful lakes shall welcome you. After an extra day at Gokyo, you shall head off to Thangnak. On the way to Dzongla from Thangnak, you shall cross the Cho La Pass. Via Lobuche, Gorakshep, you shall reach the Everest Base Camp. The next day, you shall climb to Kalapatthar to get amazing sunrise views, and descend downhill to Pheriche. Then, via Namche Bazar, Lukla, you shall return to Kathmandu via a flight.

Our representative waiting in the airport for your arrival shall take you to your hotel. After a rest of a while, you can explore the city. We shall enjoy dinner together at a popular restaurant of the town, tasting typical Nepalese dishes. These introductory tastes give you what to expect throughout the stay in Nepal in lunch and dinner. Stay overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 2:Sightseeing in Kathmandu
Altitude: Kathmandu: 1,320m
 
You shall find lots of historical, architectural, and religious attractions in Kathmandu to pay visit to. The Swayambhunath, Boudhhanath, Basantapur Durbar Square, and the Pashupatinath Temple are some of the World Heritage Sites enlisted by UNESCO. If you have miss any gear, you can purchase today. Late in the afternoon we shall talk about our plan, preparation, and requirements. Stay overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 3:Flight to Lukla/ Trek to Phakding
Altitude: Phakding: 2,651m
 
The 30 minute flight to Lukla offers the views of mountains that seem to be embracing the hills. From Lukla, your trek begins, initially, the trail descends downhill offering the view of Mt. Khumbila—the virgin mountain—until it reaches Cheplunng. The trail further descends down to Phakding. Mt. Khumbila is holds religious importance, thus, prohibiting any kind of climbing. Stay overnight at Phakding.

Day 4:Phakding to Namche Bazar
Altitude: Namche Bazar: 3,438m
 
The trail leads through forest and arrives at Dudh Koshi River. Cross the river, and pass the village of Chumoa and Monjo, and enter the Sagarmatha National Park. Past another river leads to Jorsale Village. The trail is then accompanied by Bhote Koshi and Dudh Koshi Rivers running alongside. A steep climb takes you to Namche Bazar—the Gateway to Everest. Depending upon the weather, Namche Bazar offers the views of Mt. Everest and Lhotse. Stay overnight at Namche Bazar.

Day 5:At Namche Bazar
Altitude: Namche Bazar: 3,438m
 
Namche Bazar is a hub and you shall find it quite busy with its shops, restaurants, government offices, ATMs, and market. You can explore the Sagarmatha National Park, and witness the mountains like Mt. Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Thamserku, Nuptse, Kongde, and Everest. You can also visit a Sherpa village—the Khumjung Village. There is the Hillary School, and you shall find several reasons to explore. Stay overnight at Namche Bazar.

Day 6:Namche Bazar to Phortse Thanga
Altitude: Phortse Thanga: 3,680m
 
Ascending the Khumjung Hill, descending down the trail leads to the Dudh Koshi River. Since there are two routes leading to Phortse Thanga from there, the guide shall chose the best one given the circumstance. You shall pay visit to Mohang Village that holds religious importance, and descend downhill to Dhudh Koshi River, and you shall arrive at Phortse Thanga. Stay overnight at Phortse Thanga.

Day 7:Phortse Thanga to Machhermo
Altitude: Machhermo: 4,470m
 
The trail ascends uphill to Machhermo from Phortse Thanga. Before the trail takes you to Tongba Village, you shall pass by rhododendron forest and a beautiful waterfall. Further uphill takes you to Dhole village. The trail further goes through Labarma Village and Luza Village. Passing these villages, the trail takes you to today's destination—Machhermo. Stay overnight at Machhermo.

Day 8:Machhermo to Gokyo
Altitude: Gokyo: 4,800m
 

Over a ridge, passing Phangkha, you shall descend down to riverbank. Then comes uphill through glacial moraine and the steep trail. Crossing an iron bridge brings you to the first lake of Gokyo—Longpongo. A stone here contains footprints of Lama. Further brings you the second lake—Taboche Tsho. The blue water in these lakes shall enchant you. Further ahead comes the third lake—Dudh Pokhari, by it situates the Gokyo Valley. Stay overnight at Gokyo.

Day 9:At Gokyo
Altitude: Gokyo: 4,800m
 
You can climb uphill to Gokyo Ri (5,357m), witnessing the views of Mt. Lhotse, Makalu, Cho Oyu, and Everest—the four high peaks out of seven situated in Nepal. You can visit the fourth lake—Thonak Tsho, and the fifth lake—Ngozumba Tsho, depending upon how much time you have and how physically fit you look. Ngozumba Glacier from here looks really great. Stay overnight at Gokyo.

Day 10:Gokyo to Thangnak
Altitude: Thangnak: 4,750m
 
Whether you climbed Gokyo Ri the previous day or not, you shall ascend to the peak today. The trail uphill is quite strenuous and takes about 3-4 hours to reach the top of the peak. All these efforts are rewarded by the magnificent views of Mt. Everest, Nuptse, Cholatse, Kangtega, Thamserku, Kanguru, Lhotse, Pumori, and Changtse. Along the meander you shall descend down to Thangnak. Stay overnight at Thangnak.
 
Day 11:Thagnak to Dzongla via Cho La Pass
Altitude: Cho La Pass: 5,367m; Dzongla: 15,939ft
 
The steep trail over moraine and glacier traverse can make the ascent to the top of Cho La Pass quite strenuous and challenging. Early in the morning, you shall head off to the top of Cho La Pass. Depending upon the season you are travelling, just before you reach to top, you might have to go through icy section. The top offers something more than memorable. After spending a while here, you shall descend downhill through crevasses. Stay overnight at Dzongla.

Day 12:Dzongla to Lobuche
Altitude: Lobuche: 4,940m
 
The trail descends down through grassy route to riverbed. It is very short trek; you shall arrive at Lobuche from Dzongla in 2-3 hours. The Lobuche Mountain shall accompany you throughout the trek. Once you reach Lobuche, you can rest for a while, explore the village, and prepare for the trek of following day. Once you are done, the beautiful memories shall creep inside you. Stay overnight at Lobuche.

Day 13:Lobuche to Gorakshep and Everest Base Camp
Altitude: Gorakshep: 5,170m; Everest Base Camp: 5,364m
 
The journey can be quite strenuous pass you make thorough rocky dunes, streams, and moraine to Everest Base Camp. Once you reach there, you can view the mountains like Nuptse, Pumori, and Nuptse. You shall fancy some lifetime shots; take your cameras out. After spending a while in the base camp, you shall descend down to Gorakshep as the afternoon fades away. Get a good sleep as you shall climb uphill to Kalapatthar the next day. Stay overnight at Gorakshep.

Day 14:Gorakshep to Kalapatthar and Pheriche
Altitude: Kalapatthar: 5,545m; Pheriche: 4,288m
 
Early in the morning, you shall scramble uphill to Kalapatthar through steep trail with boulders and moraines. The top offers magnificent views of Mt. Everest, and other mountains, all glowing gold in the early sun. After spending a while here, you shall descend downhill to Gorakshep, and then towards Pheriche through forest and passing waterfall. Stay overnight at Pheriche.

Day 15:Pheriche to Namche Bazar
Altitude: Namche Bazar: 3,438m
 
The trail descends downhill alongside the forest full with juniper and rhododendrons, and arrives at Dudh Koshi River. Following the river gorge, the trail further descends downhill through forests of pine. If you are fortunate, you might come across mountain goats and pheasants. Passing Sansa, witnessing the views of Mt. Thamserku, Ama Dablam, and Nutpse, and making through a forest, you shall reach Namche Bazar. Stay overnight at Namche Bazar.
 
Day 16:Namche Bazar to Lukla
Altitude: Lukla: 2,860m
 
The trail follows the rocky terrain. The trail comes easy after you cross Dudh Koshi River. Passing Phakding, you shall ascend to Lukla. After you rest for a while, you can explore Lukla. It might take about 6 hours to reach Lukla from Namche Bazar. Next day you shall return back to Kathmandu. Stay overnight at Lukla.

Day 17:Flight to Kathmandu
Altitude: 1,320m
 
It takes about 30 minutes to reach Kathmandu from Lukla. Our representative shall take you to your hotel. After you rest for a while, you can come out for a leisurely stroll. If you want to take something to your home back, you can do some shopping today.We shall share our trekking experience over dinner in a restaurant, enjoying Nepalese dishes. Stay overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 18:Departure

Our representative shall take you to the airport in proper schedule, and part away from there. Safe journey back. For more trekking in Nepal, do remember us; we shall be more than happy to introduce you into new destinations.
