Everest Gokyo trek is a complete package of adventure, sheer beauty of Gokyo Lakes, sunrise views from Kalapatthar, and the thrill of being at the foot of Mt. Everest—the world's highest mountain. The trail takes you through several dense forest full with pines and rhododendrons, crossing several suspension bridges, glacier, and traditional villages inhabited by Sherpas. The Gokyo valley with its blue lakes, along with the views of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Cho Oyu, and Makalu captivates your heart. Gokyo is the main attraction of this trek, and it involves visiting several lakes, and climbing Gokyo Ri. The trail during your climb to Cho La Pass can be quite challenging, otherwise it isn't much strenuous.
The 18 days itinerary of the trek starts after your arrival in Kathmandu. You shall spend a complete day exploring the valley, and fly to Lukla the next day. From Lukla, you shall being trekking towards Phakding to reach Namche Bazar. An extra day shall be spent at Namche Bazar to acclimatize with the growing altitude. Then, via Tengboche, Dingboche, Lobuche, Gorakshep, you shall reach all the way to the Everest Base Camp. After spending a while at the Everest Base Camp, you shall return back to Gorakshep for your next day's sunrise view from Kalapatthar. Early in the morning you shall climb to Kalapatthar, then descend down to Dzongla. Via Thagnak you shall reach Gokyo. Leaving Gokyo, via Marchhermo, Namche Bazar, you shall return back to Lukla.

Day 1:Arrival in Kathmandu

Our representative shall be waiting for your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport to take you to your hotel. Rest for a while and prepare yourself to walk around near your hotel. We shall be sitting together to enjoy local Nepalese dishes in the evening; this might give you a hint about what to expect throughout your journey here. Stay overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 2:Sightseeing in Kathmandu

Kathmandu is historically, culturally, and architecturally important place. There are places like the Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhhanath, Swayambhunath, and Basantapur Durbar Square enlisted as World Heritage by UNESCO; you might not want to miss them. Also, if you haven't purchased gear for your trek, you can buy today. We shall talk about our trekking plan in the afternoon. Stay overnight in Kathmandu.
 
Altitude: Kathmandu: 1,320m

Day 3:Flight to Lukla/ Trek to Phakding

The flight from Kathmandu to Lukla takes somewhere around 30 minutes. Once you reach there, you shall start trekking towards Phakding. Keeping the company of the Dudh Koshi River, the trail ascends up. The trail further leads to Chaurikharka. Through the forest full with rhododendrons, the route passes via several villages, and after crossing a stream, you arrive at Phakding. Stay overnight at Phakding.
 
Altitude: Phakding: 2,610m

Day 4:Phakding to Namche Bazar

Walking on the western side of Dudh Koshi River, the trail goes through Blue Pine forests, and arrives at Benkar Village. The route further crosses the river, and ascent up to Chumoa Village. Cross the Monjo Khola, and the path takes you to Monjo Village. Further, the trail leaves Jorsale Village, runs through the winding route in the forest, and after the river, Namche Bazar arrives. Stay overnight at Namche Bazar.
 
Altitude: Namche Bazar: 3,440m

Day 5:Explore Namche Bazar

Also called the Gateway to Everest, it is the perfect place show you interest in knowing the Sherpa culture. It has a Sherpa Museum. You can explore the nearby village, or Gompa. In whatever way, letting your body adapt with the gaining altitude is very important; the high altitude air contains less amount of oxygen. Spend another night at Namche Bazar.

Day 6:Namche Bazar to Tengboche

The Dudh Koshi River keeps your company as the trail goes through the forest to Phungithanga; this will have taken an hour. The trail ascents high penetrating the rhododendron forest and reach Tengboche in next 4-5 hours. The majestic mountain views awards your trip. Tengboche boasts the largest monastery in the Khumbu area. Overnight at Tengboche.
 
Altitude: Tengboche: 3,867m

Day 7:Tengboche to Dingboche

Before the trail leads to Orsho, you have to cross a suspension bridge. The walk alongside Imja River follows path through forest full with pines, conifers, and rhododendrons. Further, the trail takes you through some villages with Chortens and Mani Walls. As you advance further, you shall approach fields surrounded by stone walls; this is Dingboche. Stay overnight at Dingboche.
 
Altitude: Dingboche: 4,360m

Day 8:Explore Dingboche

This is another day to spend for acclimatization. At the northern side is Nangkartshang Gompa; a short climb can take you to there and award you with the magnificent view of Makalu. Otherwise, Chhukung lies at a 4 hour distance from Dingboche; you can visit the village. If neither the visit to the Gompa nor Chhukung attracts you, the day can be spent strolling around Dingboche. Stay overnight at Dingboche.
 
Altitude: Dingboche: 4,360m

Day 9:Dingboche to Lobuche

The trail climbs down to Pheriche Village and ascends up on the glacial moraine. The valley with dense greenery welcomes you, and the views of Mt. Tawache, Ama Dablam, Nuptse, Pokalde, and Kongmatse shall accompany you throughout the trip. Lobuche is also one of the perfect places to view these mountains up-close. Stay overnight at Lobuche.
 
Altitude: Lobuche: 4,940m

Day 10:Lobuche to Gorakshep and Everest Base Camp

The trail to Gorakshep involves making through rocky path and glacial moraines, which is quite challenging given the less oxygen content in air. Alongside the Khumbu Glacier, the trail crosses the Changri Glacier and leads to Gorakshep. Now comes the rocky trail with moraines, dunes, and streams towards the Everest Base Camp. The camp offers splendid views of Mt. Nuptse, Pumori, Khumbutse, etc. After a while, you shall return back to Gorakshep to stay overnight.
 
Altitude: Gorakshep: 5,170m; Everest Base Camp: 5364m
  
Day 11:Gorakshep to Kalapatthar and Dzongla

Early in the morning, you shall climb uphill to the top of Kalapatthar. The climb can be quite challenging, but the top offers you the breathtaking views of sunrise and glowing mountains. Kalapatthar is the best point to devour the 360 degree view of several mountains. After a while, you shall descend down to Gorakshep and continue trekking downhill towards Lobuche. A couple of hours more from Lobuche takes you to Dzongla. Stay overnight at Dzongla.
 
Altitude: Dzongla: 4,830m

Day 12:Dzongla to Thagnak via Cho La Pass

Early in the morning, you shall start your journey towards Cho La Pass. Today can be the most challenging trekking day in this entire itinerary, thus, you shall go slow, taking sufficient rest. It is a 3 hour walk from Dzongla to Cho La Pass. In severe winter, before you reach the top, you might have to make through ice. After spending a while at the top, you shall descend down towards Thagnak. Stay overnight at Thagnak.
 
Altitude: Cho La Pass: 5,545m; Thagnak: 4,500m

Day 13:Thagnak to Gokyo

The steep trail on the terminal glacial moraine of Ngajumpa can be quite challenging; it takes about two hours through this route to reach Gokyo. Cross a stream in an iron bridge, and the trail leads you to the First Lake (Longpongo). You can also observe the Lama footprints here. Further ahead comes the Second Lake (Taboche Tsho) with its blue water. Then comes the third lake, at the end of which lies the Gokyo Valley. Stay overnight at Gokyo.
 
Altitude: Gokyo: 4,800m

Day 14:Gokyo to Marchhermo via Gokyo Ri

Early in the morning, the trail shall lead you to Gokyo Ri which offers the view of whole Khumbu area. Additionally, the views of Mt. Makalu, Gyachung Kang, Cho Oyu, Lhotse, Ngozumpa Glacier, Everest, and Nuptse are best in the sunrise. After spending a while you shall descend down towards Marchhermo.Via Kangtaiga, you shall reach Macchermo. Stay overnight at Marchhermo.
 
Altitude: Gokyo Ri: 5,357m; Machhermo: 4,470m

Day 15:Marchhermo to Namche Bazar

The return trek pulls you back towards the starting of your journey in the Everest region. Recalling the memories, the trail descends down towards Namche Bazar—one of the largest settlements of Sherpa people. It is a 5 hour journey from Marchhermo to Namche Bazar. Stay overnight at Namche Bazar.

Day 16:Namche Bazar to Lukla

The trail drops down to the Dudh Koshi River, which can be quite challenging. Then, the route goes through several villages, rhododendron forest—all you had made through before. Crossing a suspension bridge you shall arrive at Phakding. The trail further descends down over the steep path to Lukla. Stay overnight at Lukla.
 
Altitude: Lukla: 2,850m

Day 17:Flight to Kathmandu

You shall reach Kathmandu via a 30 minute flight from Lukla. Our representative shall take you to your hotel, where you might want nothing more than few hours of rest to yourself. If you fancy, you can stroll the city in the evening. We shall be enjoying Nepalese cuisines in dinner. Stay overnight in Kathmandu.
 
Altitude: Kathmandu: 1,320m

Day 18:Departure

Our representative waiting outside your hotel shall pick you and your luggage and drop you at the airport. They shall then part away. Have a happy journey back to your home. Long live the memories of the Everest region.
