Gokyo Cho La Pass Trek is a perfect combination of adventure and natural beauties in a single package; Cho La Pass is one of the most popular and challenging passes in the Khumbu region. The trail to Cho La Pass is quite strenuous because of the steep rocky uphill over glacial moraines, where, depending upon the season, you might have to make through icy section just before reaching the top. Similarly, Gokyo shall turn out to be like a small paradise with its turquoise lakes, Gokyo Ri, and spectacular views of four highest mountains out of seven highest in Nepal. However, this trek doesn't stop here, you shall also make to the Everest Base Camp, and enjoy the sunrise views from Kalapatthar. It is one of the best trekking packages for all the adventure hungry trekkers.

The 18 days itinerary starts after your arrival in Nepal. After spending a whole day sightseeing in Kathmandu, you shall fly to Lukla. Via Phakding, you shall reach Namche Bazar to spend an extra day there. Then, via Phortse Thanga, Machhermo, you shall reach Gokyo. After a full day exploring Gokyo, you shall reach Thangnak. On your way to Dzongla from Thangnak, you shall cross the Cho La Pass. Via Lobuche and Gorakshep, you shall reach Everest Base Camp. After the sunrise view from Kalapatthar, you shall descend down to Pheriche. Via Namche Bazar, you shall return back to Lukla, and then fly off to Kathmandu.

Day 1:Arrival in Kathmandu

Our representative with display board shall be waiting for your arrival at the Arrival Gate of the airport; they shall then take you to your hotel. After you rest, you can go for walk around the street. Such solo adventure for a while can prepare for your time in Nepal. Together we shall dine in a popular restaurant enjoying Nepalese dishes. Stay overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 2:Sightseeing in Kathmandu
Altitude: Kathmandu: 1,320m
 
Visit the world heritage sites in Kathmandu enlisted by UNESCO, such as the Basantapur Durbar Square, the Pashupatinath Temple, Swayambhunath, and Boudhhanath. Grab your missed gear today. At our office, we shall be talking about our plan, procedure, and arrangement of the trek in late afternoon. We also have to ensure that you have everything you will need. Stay overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 3:Flight to Lukla/ Trek to Phakding
Altitude: Lukla: 2,804m; Phakding: 2,610m
 
The 30 minute flight overlooking the hills and mountains down below lands at Lukla. From here, you shall start trekking downhill. Passing several villages, rivers, and fields with barley and potatoes growing the trail takes you to Phakding. You shall witness the mountain that is too scared to be climbed by anybody. The next day you shall reach Namche Bazar. Stay overnight at Phakding.

Day 4:Phakding to Namche Bazar
Altitude: Namche Bazar: 3,441m
 
Following the north of Benkar Valley, the trail passes through the pine forest and arrives at Dudh Koshi River. Further, the trail goes past the villages of Chumoa and Monjo, and enters the Sagarmatha National Park. Across a river, leaving the Jorsale village, the trail joins the company of Dudh Koshi River and Bhote Koshi River. The steep trail uphill takes you to Namche Bazar. Stay overnight at Namche Bazar.

Day 5:At Namche Bazar
Altitude: Namche Bazar: 3441m
 
Namche Bazar has lots to make you busy and active at. You can visit the nearby village, the Khumjung Hillary School, and the Sherpa Museum that contains the history record of Sherpas, Mt. Everest, and the local flora and fauna. You can also explore the Sagarmatha National Park; it offers magnificent views of Mt. Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Thamserku, Kongde, Everest and so forth. Stay overnight at Namche Bazar.
  
Day 6:Namche Bazar to Phortse Thanga
Altitude: Phortse Thanga: 3,680m
 
Uphill the Khumjung Hill, downhill to the Dudh Koshi River, turning north, the trail arrives at a junction of two trails, both leading you to your destination. The guide shall chose the best route given the circumstnaces. Past a Chorten, the trail comes to Mohang—the birthplace of Lama from Tibet's Rongbuk Monastery who introduced Buddhism in Khumbu. Downhill to the Dudh Koshi River. Stay overnight at Phortse Thanga.

Day 7:Phortse Thanga to Machhermo
Altitude: Machhermo: 4,470m
 
Accompanying the beautiful side-forest of rhododendrons, past a waterfall, the trail arrives at Tongba Village. The trail climbs uphill to Dole village, and passes several villages such as Labarma and Luza, ultimately reaching today's destination—Machhermo. Before you arrive at the Luza Village, a Chorten welcomes you. Stay overnight at Machhermo.

Day 8:Machhermo to Gokyo
Altitude: Gokyo: 4,800m
 
Over a ridge serving beautiful views of Mt. Cho Oyu in the sky and Kangtaiga down below, the trail arrives at Phangkha. After a descent, the trial goes uphill over glacial moraine of Ngazumpa Glacier and arrives at an iron bridge. Across the stream, there is the first lake of Gokyo—Longpongo, brimming with beauty. Then comes the second lake—Taboche Tsho, and then the third lake—Dudh Pokhari beside which lies the Gokyo valley. Stay overnight at Gokyo.

Day 9:At Gokyo
Altitude: Gokyo: 4,800m
 
You can climb uphill for 3-4 hours to reach the Gokyo Ri (5,357m); the top offers great views of four high mountains like Mt. Everest, Cho Oyu, Makalu, and Lhotse, and the valley of Gokyo down. Visit the fourth lake—Thonak Tsho, and also the fifth lake—the Ngozumba Tsho. During this visit you shall witness the beauty of Ngozumba Glacier. Stay overnight at Gokyo.

Day 10:Gokyo to Thangnak
Altitude: Thangnak: 4,750m
 
Today, again, you shall climb atop the Gokyo Ri. Early in the morning, the trail shall challenge you for about 3 hours till the top of the peak comes. The mountains glowing in the early sunrise, and the villages and valleys down shall make your stunned. Stumbling on your trail on the Ngazumpa Glacier, you shall meet a traverse. Then comes Thangnak. Stay overnight at Thangnak.
  
Day 11:Thangnak to Dzongla via Cho La Pass
Altitude: Cho La Pass: 5,367m; Dzongla: 15,939ft
 
In your entire trek, today can be the toughest day. The reason is the trail to the Cho La Pass is steep and has glacier traverse. Making through the vertical trail through the slippery icy section can be troublesome. The prayer flags blowing in the mountain wind greets you at the top. Enjoy the beautiful views and descend downhill. The descent to the Dzongla involves crevasses. The village offers breathtaking views of Mt. Ama Dablam, Cholatse, Lobuche, and the village of Pheriche down below. Stay overnight at Dzongla.

Day 12:Dzongla to Lobuche
Altitude: Lobuche: 4,940m
 
It just takes 2-3 hours from Dzongla to reach Lobuche, thus, it is a relatively short walk. Short descent from Dzongla brings you at grassy route. The view of the Lobuche Peak is spectacular during this journey. Take a good rest and make preparation for your next day so that you can trek right away without any delay. Stay overnight at Lobuche.

Day 13:Lobuche to Gorakshep and Everest Base Camp
Altitude: Gorakshep: 5,170m; Everest Base Camp: 5,364m
 
With the rise in altitude, the air becomes thin, which might make your trek today quite strenuous. Through moraines, rocky dunes, and streams the trail leads to the Everest Base Camp. The camp offers views of Mt. Nuptse, Pumori, Khumbutse, and others. After spending some time here, you shall return back to Gorakshep for your next special day. Stay overnight at Gorakshep.

Day 14:Gorakshep to Kalapatthar and Pheriche
Altitude: Kalapatthar: 5,545m; Pheriche: 4,288m
 
Before the day breaks out, you shall make haste climbing uphill towards Kalapatthar. After your effort over steep and challenging trail, the top of Kalapatthar offers 360 degree panoramic views of several mountains. The glowing mountains in the sunrise shall captivate your heart. After spending some time here, you shall descend down to Gorakshep, and then towards Pheriche. Stay overnight at Pheriche.

Day 15:Pheriche to Namche Bazar
Altitude: Namche Bazar: 3,441m
 

Past the forest full with junipers and rhododendrons beside the trail, the trail comes at the Dudh Koshi River. Lots of prayer flags shall have been festooned in the bridge. Crossing the river, alongside the Dudh Koshi River's gorse, the trail drops down through a forest. Past Sanasa that offers magnificent views of Mt. Nuptse, Ama Dablam, and Thamserku, you shall make through a forest to reach Namche Bazar. Stay overnight at Namche Bazar.
  
Day 16:Namche Bazar to Lukla
Altitude: Lukla: 2,804m
 
Since the descent is quite steep, to avoid your shaky legs give away, you shall climb down with care and caution. However, after few streams and river, the trail returns to gentle and easy surface. Past Phakding, and other several villages, you shall ascent to Lukla. At the end back to where you had started from. Stay overnight at Lukla.

Day 17:Flight to Kathmandu
Altitude: Kathmandu: 1,320m
 

The 30 minute flight to Kathmandu offers views of mountains and hills from the sky. Our representative shall take you to your hotel. Take a good rest. You can do some shopping, if you like. We shall dine together in the evening in a popular restaurant of the tow. Stay overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 18:Departure

After you are ready with your luggage, our representative shall take you to the airport. They shall bade goodbyes and return. Have a safe journey. For next trek or tour in Nepal, do remember us.
