Overview

Often known as  one of the most challenging treks in Everest region, Everest three pass trek leads us through the realm of Renjola, Chola and Kongmala high passes all of which are located in Everest Khumbu region. Everest three pass region lies in Khumbu region of northeastern Nepal.


The three passes trek might be  strenuous but rewarding. It offers us all the striking views of snow clad mountains and peaks including Mount Everest, Lhotse, Amadablam, Pumori, Nuptse and Thamserku mountains. Three pass trekking trail also progresses through frozen glacier lakes at different regions.


The trek will drive us through various highland villages that are inhabited by ethnic Sherpas who are best  known for their bravery and valour. We will get to know the ancient culture, traditions and lifestyle peculiar to the Sherpas. Everest three pass treks is thus the perfect harmony of cultural trek and natural sightseeing trek route.


Everest high pass trek is not recommended to all. You will require prior trekking experience to venture for the Everest. You should also have a good stamina and sound energy to venture in there. Else , it might drain you out of your energy.. Besides, chances of altitude sickness will always be a potential problem.


We will take a 35 minutes flight from Kathmandu to Lukla to reach the Tenzing Hilary airport. The trail progresses through culturally rich highland villages of Tengboche and Dingboche. We will move through the narrow path stretching through the whitewashed houses and cross the monasteries and Chortens to Gorakshep Lake. We will climb Kongmala pass and reach Everest Base Camp which is located at the base of Mount Everest. We will ascend Chola Pass and travel through Gokyo valley to Ngozumpa Glacier which is the largest glacier system in Khumbu Region.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1 : Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to the hotel.

You will find our representative ready to greet you as soon as you disembark from the flight. You will be transferred to the hotel where you will have a brief orientation about the Three Pass trek is provided before you enjoy the delicious welcome dinner.

Day 2 : Kathmandu Sightseeing

Early in the morning, we will take the light breakfast and head out for half day guided city tour during which we will explore the sites enlisted by UNESCO , namely Pashupatinath, Bouddhanath, Swayambhunath and Kathmandu Durbar Square.

Day 3 : Fly to Lukla (2,820 m) and trek to Phakding (2,645 m) - 04 hrs.

We will take an early morning Kathmandu Lukla flight from domestic airport in Kathmandu. It takes 35 minutes of flight over mountains, terraces, river and forest to reach Tenzing Hilary Airport at Lukla. Disembarking at the airport, we will walk for Four hours through rocky terrain lined with prayer rocks to Bhaisekharka which leads us further to Phakding where we will stay overnight.

Day 4 : Trek to Namche Bazaar (3,440 m / 11,350 feet) - 06 hrs.

The trail progresses through the dense thickets of pine woods. We will walk along the trail to the suspension bridge over Dudh Kosi River. Crossing the river, we will move in and out of small but culturally rich Sherpa villages of Benkar, Chumoa, Monjo and Jorsale to reach Namche Bazaar .It is the trade center and also the gateway to Everest Khumbu Region.

Day 5 : At Namche for acclimatization and a short scenic hike.

Once you reach Namche Bazaa, you will experience a sharp increase in the altitude. Giving ourselves some time for restfulness will reduce the possibility of high altitude sickness. We will explore the market area of Namche Bazaar and also visit nearby Khunde village.

Day 6 : Trek to Tengboche (3,867 m) - 05 hrs.

Leaving Namche Bazaar early in the morning, we will traverse the forest of rhododendron and juniper and take the descending trail to Kayangjuma. We will walk along small Sherpa settlement at Sansa to forest from where we will head to Dudh Koshi River. We will cross Dudh Koshi River over suspension bridge and reach Phuki Thengna .It is from here that we will take the ascending trail to Tengboche Village.

Day 7 : Trek to Dingboche (4,340 m) - 05 hrs.

We will wake up early in the morning and head to the top of ridge that allows striking views of Ama Dablam, Nuptse and Everest Mountains. Returning back, we will pay visit to Tengboche Monastery which is the largest Buddhist Monastery in Khumbu Region. We will pass through the settlement at Pheriche and lower down to Lobuche River from where we will follow the steep path uphill to Dingboche

Day 8 : Rest day in Dingboche for acclimatization and a short excursion.

Give, that we are up for a challenging trek, we will need to allocate some days for leisure so that we will not drain out of our energy. We will explore to the nearby ridge and enjoy the striking views of soaring Makalu, Lhotse and Cho Oyu Mountains. The ridge also offers views of Imja valley and Lobuche and Cholatse peaks.

Day 9 : Trek to Chukung (4,740 m) - 04 hrs.

The trek initiates through crop fields. We will climb to Imja Khola Valley which offers views of Lhotse and Ama Dablam mountains. Our trail continues through Bibre to the scattered settlement of yak herders. Walking further, we will reach Chhukung that offers striking view of Imja Tse which is also known as Island Peak.

Day 10 : Trek to Lobuche (4,960 m) via Khoma-La Pass (5,535 m) - 08 hrs.

Adventurous day, trekking to Lobuche via Khoma-La Pass at 5,535 meters. The 8-hour trek offers unparalleled views and a sense of accomplishment.

Day 11 : Trek to Everest Base Camp (5,364 m) and back to Gorakshep - 06 hrs.

We will explore the Gorakshep Lake which is the lake of freezing water. Walking past the Indian Army Mountaineers; Memorials, we will reach Everest Base Camp that offers striking views of Nuptse, Khumbutse and Pumori Mountains. We will return back from Everest Base Camp to Gorakshep where we will stay overnight. Experience the iconic trek to Everest Base Camp at 5,364 meters.

Day 12 : Climb Kala Patthar (5,550 m ) and trek to Dzongla (4,750 m).

Start your day with a climb to Kala Patthar, offering stunning panoramic views at 5,550 meters. Descend to Dzongla at 4,750 meters, completing a day filled with scenic wonders. From Gorakshep, we will return back to Lobuche. Walking further, we will reach the river bank. We will cross the river and take the ascending trail to the top of ridge. The ridge offers striking views of Ama Dablam and Thamserku Mountains. Continuing further, we will reach Cholatse Lake. The trail goes through few ups and downs to reach a bridge. We will cross the bridge to reach Dzongla.

Day 13 : Trek to Thagnak (4,760 m) via Cho-La pass (5,420 m) - 08 hrs.

We will get the striking view of Cholatse Mountain from the hilltop of Dzongla and head west before descending to the gorge. We will climb the gorge and reach the vantage point which offers views of Ama Dablam and Cholatse Mountains. We will climb Cho La Pass the summit of which offers panoramic views of several mountains and peaks in Nepal. We will follow the rocky path to Thangnak.

Day 14 : Trek to Gokyo Lake (4,800 m) - 04 hrs

We will follow the rocky path that offers striking views of mountains and valleys. We will reach Ngozumpa Glacier which is the longest glacier system in Nepal. We will cross the Ngozumpa glacier and reach third Gokyo lake which is located on the verge of Gokyo Village.

Day 15 : At Gokyo rest day, with options for a hike to Gokyo-Ri.

This is spare day which makes us sure that the trek goes as per schedule even if it is marred by some unforeseen circumstances. We will visit the fourth and fifth lakes on this day. There are total 6 lakes in Gokyo Valley. We can also climb the Gokyo Ri Peak.

Day 16 : Trek to Lungden (4,340 m) via Renjo-La (5,360 m) - 07 hrs.

We will head west from the Gokyo Valley and walk to base of Renjo La pass. Renjo La is the high pass located at 5411m. We will enjoy the gratifying views of mountains and peaks in Nepal and Tibet. We will enjoy the view of Kyajo Ri from the western section of Renjo La and reach Lungden where we will stay overnight.

Day 17 : Trek to Thame village (3,885 m) - 06 hrs.

Strolling along the rocky path , we will walk along the river. We will reach Sherpa village of Thamel. It is a very pleasant opportunity for us to get acquainted with local culture, traditions and ways of living. We will also visit the monastery in Thame village.

Day 18 : Trek to Namche Bazaar (3,440 m) - 04 hrs.

From Thame Village, we will return back to Namche Bazaar. We will cross Dudh Koshi River and move through Sagarmatha National Park to Manjo Village. The entrance of Sagarmatha National park exists at Monjo village.

Day 19 : Trek to Lukla (2,820 m) - 07 hours.

7 hours of trek through forest of blooming rhododendron and few Sherpa settlements will lead us to Dudh Koshi River. We will climb to Chheplung and walk further to Lukla where we will stay overnight.

Day 20 : Fly to Manthali/Ramechap and drive to Kathmandu - 05 hrs

Take a flight back to Manthali/Ramechap from Lukla and then drive to Kathmandu, a journey of approximately 5 hours. Reconnect with the vibrant city after days in the mountains.

Day 21 : Free day as contingency and for individual activities.

This is a bonus day. You can either take rest or enjoy shopping in Thamel where you can buy curio goods and artifacts that can be given as token of love to your near and dear ones.

Day 22 : Departure

In the last moment of the trek you will get some help from our representative to take you to the International Airport. It is from here that you will move to your next destination.
