Internship with Nepalese Organizations

Better let jobs hunt you than hunting the job yourself

Though college and universities give students all required theoretical knowledge and prepare to work in their field of study, final year college students and fresh graduates usually find it very challenging to find expected jobs due to lack of relevant work experiences. Many students feel that ‘how is it possible to have experience while organizations are not ready to recruit fresh graduates?’. Thus, internships during study or at the end of college or post-study years give students the first hand experience and training required to know about the professional environment and enhance required practical skills in addition to the theoretical knowledge.

These days, going abroad for internships is much popular among students in every part of the world. As it involves travel, new life experiences, professional training and experience, students and fresh graduates prefer internships abroad than internships in their own country. As such, Nepalese and international organizations located in Nepal also receive many interns and trainees annually. During an internship in Nepal, the interns travel, work, exchange their culture and gain other life skills as well.

In Nepal, usually the professional sectors that organizations invite international interns and trainees are the following:

Public Health and Medical Care: Government / private hospitals, health posts, sanitation projects, awareness / advocacy campaigns, administrative services in health sector, NGOs, etc.

Education: Schools, colleges, libraries, etc. offer opportunities to teach English and other subjects, develop better teaching methods, etc. NGOs have more programs related.

Social service: Work for social organizations, community organizations, non government organizations, youth clubs, women’s clubs, etc,.

Human Rights and Advocacy: Mostly in NGOs/INGOs

Infrastructure: Work for construction contractors in construction area or administrative section.

Business: Work for private business houses (small to large).

Hydropower: Work for ongoing hydropower projects.

Communication: At telecommunication / IT companies.

Tourism and Hospitality: Hotels / Resorts / Travel and Trekking Agencies, Airlines, Transportation, etc.

Agriculture: (Organic) farms, dairy industry, NGOs, etc.

Engineering: Infrastructure projects, contractor office, rural reconstruction, disaster risk reduction, etc.

Environment: NGOs, National Parks, Conservation Areas, Community Forests, etc.

For those interested in internship tour, we look for a reliable organization of your field of study / professional interest; finalize the contract agreement, arrange your transportation to and from the place, accommodation and other logistics required.

Note:

Interns can stay at city or should go to villages (sometimes remote) depending on their field and organization.

Most of the internships are unpaid.

Interns can find easily affordable yet good (budget but natural in rural areas) accommodation foods to reduce their expenses.
