The most exotic villages in Nar Phu Valley abandoned by modernity of the rest of the world, Nar and Phu lie between two most popular trekking regions of Nepal Himalaya  - Annapurna and Manaslu. Portraying the stunningly beautiful landscapes, peaceful natural settings and authentic Tibetan culture of  the local people, Nar Phu Valley trekking is one of the best adventure holiday options in the Himalayan region of Nepal.

Located between Annapurna and Manaslu massifs, Nar Phu Valley offers the scenic panorama of Himalaya and provides the travelers with an amazing opportunity to navigate through the almost unexplored or less travelled, off the beaten trekking trail in Nepal.

While Annapurna region is so popular trekking area all over the world and Nar Phu Valley Trekking goes along the trail just nearby, it has been travelled by very small number of travelers and thus has been remained unspoiled.

A 12 day mission, Ace Holiday’s Nar Phu Valley Trekking Package has also been and will further be customized as per your needs, interests and experiences. Kicking off from Kathmandu with a full day sightseeing of world famous UNESCO world heritage sites and a day long drive from Kathmandu to Besisahar and Koto, the trip indulges the travelers mostly in trekking for 7 days along the naturally authentic trail. One of the most amazing highlights of this trek is passing through Kang la Pass which is one of the high mountain passes in the world.

Trip Itinerary

Welcome to Kathmandu, the vibrant capital of Nepal! Upon your arrival, a representative from Ace Holiday Treks will greet you and assist with your transfer to the hotel. After checking in, take some time to relax and refresh. Depending on your arrival time, you might want to explore the bustling streets of Thamel or visit nearby attractions such as Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple) or Kathmandu Durbar Square. In the evening, you’ll attend a pre-trek briefing and receive important information about the itinerary, safety protocols, and what to expect on your journey.

Overnight at the hotel in Kathmandu.

After breakfast, you will be picked up from your hotel and transferred to our private vehicle for the full day sightseeing of Kathmadu world heritage sites. Usually, on a full day sightseeing of Kathmandu, you will visit four main historic, cultural and artistic monuments including Swayambhunath (the monkey temple), Kathmandu Durbar Square, Bouddhanath stupa and Pashupatinath temple. These places portray the face of ancient and medieval history and cultural heritage of the local people and the people from the Trans-Himalayan region. Besides, in the evening, you will prepare for your trekking trip and have a brief orientation.

Overnight at a hotel in Kathmandu.

On the third day, you will begin your journey from Kathmandu to Besisahar by drive where you stop for a while to transfer to a four wheeler and traverse through a rocky path towards Koto. On the way, despite having the experience of driving quite rough / off-road, you will have welcoming and scenic scene of the surroundings with rivers, forests, terraced fields, hills and the mountains of Nepal himalayan region.

Overnight: Koto.

On the fourth day, you will wake up early in the morning and prepare for a long day journey towards Meta. On the way, you will cross suspension bridges, pass through beautiful forests and settlements along the Phu River. The special feature of the trail is that there are so many caves and Dharmasalas (religious shelters) and it has not been spoiled or touched by mass travelers.

Walking through a narrow canon, you will continue with beautiful waterfalls above the trail. The more you pass, the higher you will ascend and the greenery will gradually be sparse. The later hours of the trek will be an ascend through the steep hill giving you much clear and closer view of the snow-capped peaks including Lamjung Himal and Annapurna. Upon arrival in Meta, you will take rest in a large plain land with natural beauty and peace.

Overnight: Meta.

On the day five, beginning from Meta and heading towards Phu Gaun, you will see and experience the diverse nature and cultures of the indigenous local people of Tibetan origin and their livelihood. The colorful player flags, chortens and monasteries are what make Nar Phu Valley very authentic and give peace of mind for the travelers. Crossing the suspension bridges and walking along the terraced fields, you will pass through Chyakhu and climb for a small pass to view the spectacular view of Annapurna Range closely and reach Kayang. From kayang, you can see the panoramic view of Pisang Peak and Annapurna II and continue your trek along rocky terrain passing across Phu River. On the way and from the village, you will be amazed by the rich history and cultural heritage of the valley also evident with the architecture of three Tibetan style fortresses including Dzong.

Overnight: Phu Goan.

Coming mostly from the developed cities or towns of different countries, Nar Phu Valley is an amazing place to feel the peace of mind given by the natural setting. Today is the day to spend plenty of time in Phu village and experience the Tibetan culture and religion more that you would have expected. Sitting beside the villagers and share their way of life really gives you a new cultural bag to take home back.

Besides, you can hike up to Himlung Himal base camp through the glacial valley or can visit the historical Tashi Lhakhang Monastery, the last one built by Karmapa Rinpoche and also one of the most popular monasteries in the world.

Overnight at a guesthouse in Phu.

Now, it’s time to follow the trail back for few hours along the same trail and follow the small gorge of Phu Khola. Crossing small streams and bridges, you will first reach a Buddhist village, Yughat, and continue to Nar Phedi through Lapcha River gorge. In Nar Phedi, as there are no lodge or tea houses, you will take shelter at a monastic school and will be helped served by the nuns. If you prefer, you can join them in their religious rituals too.

Overnight a monastery in Nar Phedi.

Trekking from Nar Phedi to Nar Village is relatively easy and short day trek. Passing through colorful Buddhist stupas, chortens and monasteries, you will reach Nar village, very less visited by tourists but rich is natural and cultural heritage. From here, you can have the spectacular view of Pisang Peak and some other peaks in the range. Though you will not see much difference between Nar and Phu villages in geography, you will see Nar much lively and encounter more people.

Overnight at a guesthouse in Nar Village.

From Nar village, climbing upwards towards Kang la Pass, this day will give you more adventurous and challenging experience. From Kang la Pass, you will have an unmatched opportunity to see the most beautiful view of Annapurna II, Gangapurna, Tilicho and surrounding peaks, Hunde Airport and Marsyangdi Valley. With the feeling of accomplishment of passing the high pass, you will descend to Ngwal. On the way, you can see meditation caves, beautiful pastureland and religious monuments.

Overnight at a guesthouse in Ngawal.

Today is the last day of your core trekking duration. From Ngawal, you will follow the wide, smooth and easy trail towards Pisang. After the comfortable walk for few hours, you will reach Pisang, where you will have your lunch and take your jeep to Besisahar.

Overnight at a hotel in Besisahar.

Today, you will drive back along the same road with scenic landscapes in the surrounding. Driving along the river gorges like Marsyangdi and Trishuli, you will really enjoy the journey as you see a diverse range of natural and cultural settings on the way. Upon arrival, you will check into hotel and take some rest for a while. Then you can enjoy your evening walking around, shopping or dining as you like in the most vibrant tourist hub of Nepal, Thamel.

Overnight at the hotel in Kathmandu.

On your final day, prepare for your departure from Kathmandu. Depending on your flight schedule, you may have time for a leisurely breakfast or some last-minute exploration. An Ace Holiday Treks representative will assist you with your transfer to the airport, ensuring a smooth end to your unforgettable Nar Phu Valley Trek experience.
