Dhaulagiri Trekking
is a three-week long adventure and challenge that you ought to undertake
if you are up for the perks of climbing. The remote trekking trail continues
through the route stretching to the west of Annapurna. It continues
through the foothill of the world’s seventh highest mountain at Dhaulagiri Base
Camp and passes through the glacier to the famous French Col Pass to the Hidden
Valley.
Since this is extremely difficult trek, it is not recommended for you if you are a beginner. We recommend this trip only for seasoned trekkers. Although the trek drains you of energy, the exploration in Dhaulagiri is certainly the once in a lifetime opportunity.

We will drive from Kathmandu to Beni via Pokhara. Dhaulagiri Trekking begins at Beni and progresses through Babichaur, Dharapani, Muri, Boghara, Dovan, Italian Base Camp and Glacier Camp to Dhaulagiri Base Camp. Return trail continues through French Col, Hidden Valley Camp and Yak Kharka to Jomsom. We will take Jomsom Pokhara flight and take bus from Pokhara to Kathmandu.

Upon arrival at
Kathmandu Airport, you will find our representative ready to greet you soon as
you dislodge from the flight. You will be transferred to the hotel where brief
orientation about the Dhaulagiri trekking / expedition is provided before you
enjoy the delicious welcome dinner.
Overnight in Kathmandu.
Breakfast will be served early in the morning. Later, we will take the half day guided city tour and explore UNESCO enlisted sites of Kathmandu which starts from Pashupatinath. We will also explore Bouddhanath and Swayambhunath and reach Kathmandu Durbar Square. Evening is best period for exploring Kathmandu Durbar Square. After sightseeing, you will prepare for your trekking.

Buses leave from Tourist Bus Park at Kantipath/Sorhakhutte at 7am. We will follow the beautiful Prithvi Highway and catch the views of cable car in Kurintar, Trishuli and Marsyangdi Rivers and mid hills of Nepal. Driving continues to Beni that locates 82km far from Pokhara. We will drive along the bank of Mardi River to reach Beni which exists in the confluence of Myagdi River and Kali Gandaki River.

The actual Dhaulagiri
trek begins on the fourth day. Leaving Kali Gandaki, we will reach to the
northern edge of Myagdi River. Journey continues through Mangalghat and Singa
to Tatopani. We will enjoy taking bath in natural hot spring at Tatopani and
then traverse the bridge to make it to Simalchaur from where we will head to
Babichaur.

The journey on 5th day is uphill for most of the day. We will pass through forest of pine and oaks and take the ascending trail to Sahasradhara village. Crossing Dudh Khola, we will head to Rato Runga village from where we will move further to Dharapani village. Dharapani is a small yet beautiful village from where we can observe close up views of various mountains.

As we cross the river, we will arrive at the vast open land of green pasture from where we will head north towards Phedi. Sibang is just a 2 hrs of climb away from Phedi. We will pass through Mattim village and lower down to Gattikhola. After taking brief rest at Phalai Gaon, we will cross Dharakhola and reach Myagdi River. We will take the sharp climb to Muri which is a village of indigenous Magar community.
Overnight in Muri.
Walking down from Muri, we will cross the river and arrive at the foot of small pass. We will climb the pass and enjoy the spectacular view of Ghustung South Mountain (6465m) from the top. Further down, we will walk along Myagdi River and move in and out of Naura village before arriving at Boghara.

From Baghara, we will take brief descend to ridge. The journey continues through the crop field. We will walk through the dense forest of blooming rhododendrons and reach Jyardan which is a pretty small village. Journey continues through Lipshe and Lapche Kharka to Dovan.

We will cross the wooden bridge and take the trail through the forest to reach the ridge which offers scenic view of Dhaulagiri I (8167m). After we have our moment with rest, we will lower down to Myagdi River. Crossing the river, we will arrive at Chartare . It is from here that we will make it to Choriban Khola.

The trek continues through Chhonbaran glacier. We will get the opportunity to get close up views of Tukuche and Dhaulagiri I mountains. The journey continues through the slippery route to the Italian Base Camp that is located at 3660m altitude. Italian Base Camp offers views of Dhaulagiri II, Dhaulagiri III and Dhaulagiri V mountains.

We will take the day off from the trek. Pass the time as you please. Either you can photo shoot or play cards or explore nearby glacier.

We will walk past the
glaciers to reach a place nearby a lake. Then we will set our camp on the
glacier namely a Glacier Camp. Walking through glaciers might be tricky. It
will be slippery due to melting snow. Please follow your guide and his
instructions.

We will follow the
trail that emanates beautiful view of Dhaulagiri I Mountain. Dhaulagiri Base
Camp can be reached after an arduous trek for four hours . Once we reach
Dhaulagiri Base Camp, we can enjoy the panoramic views of Dhaulagiri II,
Dhaulagiri III and Dhaulagiri V mountains.

Setting yourself to rest is strictly advisable. It helps in proper acclimatization and also helps you to regain the energy drained by the strenuous trekking. We can also arrange for a side trekking near glacier valley if you want it.

Ghaulagiri Base Camp.
We will leave the
glacier valley and take the steep climb to arrive at the meadow where we can
see cattle grazing daily in the lush green vegetation. We will head to French
Pass (5100m) from where we can get the spectacular views of Mukut Mountain, Tashi
Kang, Tukuche Peak, Sita Peak and Dhaulagiri I mountain.
Overnight in French Pass.
After we sign off
from the French Pass early in the morning, we will descend through the forested
ridge for about 3 hours. We will arrive at the hill top that offers first view
of Hidden Valley. We will descend further to Hidden Valley where we will set
our camp and stay overnight.
Overnight in Hidden Valley Camp.
We will wake up early in the morning and take brief tour in the remote Hidden Valley. We will climb to the foothill of Dhampus pass (5200m). Difficult climb will take us to the top of Dhampus Pass. We will enjoy views of mountains and valleys from the top of Dhampus Pass and lower down to Yak Kharka.

Walking down from Yak
Kharka, we will reach Marpha village which is a famous apple orchard. We will
enjoy the taste of brew made from local apple and then continue the journey
through the western bank of Kali Gandaki River to reach Jomsom where we will
stay overnight.

Since weather remains bad during the day period due to persistent strong wind, we will take an early morning flight from Jomsom to Pokhara. We wil fly high above clouds in between Annapurna and Dhaulagiri Mountains and reach Pokhara in 35 minutes.

We will take a 7
hours drive through Prithvi Highway to reach Kathmandu.
Overnight in Kathmandu.
You will be assisted
in last moment preparation and then taken to Tribhuvan International Airport
for your final departure.
